Thank you so much! When I was at the Library of Virginia, I was not aware of the existence of this film.

In case you haven't seen these already, you might find some material in the microfilm of the Virginia Colonial Records Project. The survey reports can be called up via the Library of Virginia here:

You'll have to weed through a number of individuals with that name, but I'm sure there will be some records for your J.R. Among the records are Loyalist Claims, which should yield something good.

Good luck,

Does anyone know of good primary source material on John Randolph, 1727-1784, famous Loyalist and father of Edmund Randolph? There doesn't seem to be much in existence, perhaps, because he left Virginia in 1775 and accompanied Lord Dunmore to England. The only primary sources I have uncovered are correspondence between JR and Thomas Jefferson and some VA House of Burgesses records.

Thanks!
