About 1970 my colleague Dr. Robert A. Armour wrote a doctoral 
dissertation on the history of Methodism (in Virginia, I think)at the 
Univ. of Georgia. I have not read it, but might find something there, 
especially a bibliography. You'll doubtless find it in DISSERTATIONS 
ABSTRACTS.
