A correction of my earlier posting on the Bill of Rights (re the second
point): I wrote the "latter" but meant the "former" (i.e., the Bill of
Rights) was created by the first Congress.... Sorry!

Thanks also to Jon Kukla for the fascinating account of Patrick Henry's
reaction to the amendments.
