I wonder if the surname RIDER indicates he is a descendant of the ancient
Yorkshire de RYTHRE/de RYTHER family who were ancestral to the Wrights of
Virginia (allied with the Washington family). I've been told the modern
etymological version of the Ryther surname is Rider.
