Is this on the level, or just humbug?

http://vision.stanford.edu/~birch/pocahontas.html

In this article, the author is described as the FIRST historian in 100
years, to thoroughly investigate the story of Pocahontas saving John Smith.
Huh?

Can anyone provide a rebuttal on this seemingly stupid assertion? Or, is he
the first to do so?

Anne
