I hate to do this, but I now have to insist on a cessation of hostilities on
the subjects of "Gods and Generals," Lincoln and the Emancipation
Proclamation, and even the Virginia Standards of Learning (if anybody wants
to discuss them intelligently) and the childish personal retorts that have
largely ruined a good conversation and annoyed a great many subscribers,
including me.

We can resume next week, maybe, after tempers have cooled off. In the mean
time, please cultivate the practice of thinking before replying.
