It's been around for a long time, but Charles E. Hatch's "Virginia, The First Seventeen Years" in the E. G. Swem ed., series of Jamestown 350th anniversary booklets (Wmsbg 1957; some also subsequently reprinted by Univ Press of Va) has a useful mid-section devoted to the names and locations of early plantations.
