Anne,

I absolutely believe that Ms. Zolkover and Mr. Barger should be free to express their opinions and make their arguments. My concern in writing was more about the tone of remarks that suggested that certain interpretations of history sprang from personal dishonesty or an intent to deceive on the part of some writers on the Jefferson-Hemings issue. I think it undermines the integrity of the list if we cannot agree to disagree without these attacks on writers' characters. We're supposed to be civil and all seek to improve our understanding together.

David,

Ms Zolkover and Herbert Barger seem to be cut from the same cloth, and no
opportunity to make their disdain known is overlooked.
