In October 1903, Dock Bane and Lone B. Vess engaged in an altercation
that ended with Bane striking Vess on the head with a fire shovel. After
having several skull fragments removed, Vess was not expected to live,
but surprisingly he did and was summoned along with his skull fragments
to be a witness for the prosecution. For more on the story see today's
blog post.
