J South,

Why not set your sights on the writings of former slaves rather than on 
works of fiction. I'm not sure how you can deduce that slavery was more like 
"Gone with the Wind" rather than "Uncle Tom's Cabin" on face value. Is it 
the mote in your eye that causes you to focus on fiction to the exclusion of 
reality?
