The Circus is Coming to Town! Well, not exactly, but the Virginia Newspaper Project thought it a good time to take a look back at 19th century newspaper coverage of circuses in Virginia, as well as a providing a bit of background on some of the important figures in the history of the American circus.
Our intrepid blogger hopes this will get you in the spirit as the Virginia State Fair looms boldly on the horizon.
