After doing further research with the help of others, I am even more baffled about Robert Valentine Whitehurst (1881-1928).
This is the person I mentioned was listed as Walter W. Whitehurst married to Georgianna B. Whitehurst. Later I find both buried in Norfolk but Walter died in 1932, not 1928 as the newspaper mentions because they must have listed the wrong name... but how?

The Times Dispatch in Richmond lists him a few ways as well.

11-22 they have him as Robert B. Whitehurst and died at home in Baltimore.
11-24 correctly as Robert V. Whitehurst and body back for funeral in Hollywood.
11-25 as Robert W. Whitehurst and funeral yesterday.

How can the newspaper have him 3 different ways in basically 3 successive days?

But the Washington Post has him on 11-22 as Walter W. Whitehurst. Every detail in the news article is correct from him being a real estate agent, living in Baltimore, even his brother's name of Capt. Herbert Whitehurst but his own name and his wife is incorrect. And he died at the Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC, not Baltimore as the Times Dispatch reported and a room clerk found him dead in bed. It shows his wife as Georgianna (which his Georgianna Franklin) but Robert's wife is Julia Bidgood who died in 1964 and buried with Robert at Hollywood cemetery.

As said, there really was a Walter W. Whitehurst but died in 1932 and is buried with wife Georgianna in Norfolk. She died in February 1928.

So how can this person's obit and death notice be so messed up? At first I though he may have been living a double life and for the Washington Post to have his occupation "and" brother's correct name tells me they knew of him so why the completely incorrect name for him and wife? Mysterious and again, is this something that often happens?

Eric
