The fact remains that they are closing down the slave quarters all the same.
Whether they are a reconstruction or are a recreation. How much of Colonial
Williamsburg proper is recreated and how much is reconstructed? Hmmm... does
anyone know the answer to this question. What is the purpose of Colonial
Williamsburg? To turn a proft? To teach visitors 18th Century Williamburg
history? To presurve original dwellings only? What? I'm just asking, mind
you. Because I don't think it's all black and white in Colonial Williamsburg
proper either (no pun intended, wink, wink). And I'm not trying to make this
into a racial issue either. However, I do believe that Colonial Williamburg
would be happier if Carter's Grove were managed by someone else like Shirley
is. I just don't think they can afford to run Carter's Grove anymore. And
that's a real shame. Because if they are forced to abandon her, who will
preserve her?
