Thank you. Maybe it is the part about Texas that he has so much trouble in
reconciling.

Subject: Re: Harry Flood Byrd, Junior -- Still Living?

I do not know if Senator Harry F. Byrd, Jr. is still alive. Yet a simple
search through Google did turn up a site that has a genealogy tree of him
tracing his roots back to William Byrd II who was born on 6 September 1728.
I believe the rumors of his not being a Byrd came from the fact that his
maternal grandfather was born in Texas and not in the Commonwealth.

It would be somewhat amusing if Mr. Byrd is still alive as I met him several
times when I was a high school student in Virginia. Once for honors I
received in a national academic program, and several times when I was a
significant member of the loyal opposition team in the Democratic Party
which tried several times to unseat him in the primaries. And, I found him
to be an affable person with a great sense of humor.

BTW, the site is "http://www.ishipress.com/pafg147.htm, "Family Trees of
Thomas Jefferson and Other Famous Americans"

Wishful thinking?
BTW, I once spoke to Byrd's senate office and was informed he is not a Byrd
family member, but was adopted. I AM NOT MAKING THIS ONE UP!

Hello Everyone,

A Byrd researcher said she believed that former Senator Harry Flood Byrd,
Junior had died, but I have not been able to find any biographies or
obituaries
that indicate he has passed away (and I'm pretty sure that someone would
have
edited expeditiously his one on Wikipedia if he had -- smile and sigh).

Can someone confirm that he is still living for me.

Thanks.

Janet (Baugh) Hunter.
