Is the image you refer to an ebay listing? If it's the stereoscope view
of the "slave market"
then that image appears in "Lost Virginia: vanished architecture of the
Old Dominion (Howell Press, 2001) p. 116.

The ebay stereoview may be a bit misleading. The 17th St. Market was the
central commercial area in Richmond - not exclusively a slave market.

If the ebay listing is not the one to which you refer I would be very
interested in seeing the image you have.

Thanks. Tom Ray

Subject: Richmond Slave Market

I have just received by email a steropticon image of a supposed Richmond
slave jail. Neither I nor colleagues/scholars with wide knowledge of
Richmond's slavery business and legacy have seen this image before, and
we all doubt its authenticity. I'll gladly email the image to anyone who
might be able to help identify it.

Thanks,

Maurice Duke
