Folks,

The list of Famous Virginians has grown to more than 125 names.
And, it suggests to me that there would be an interest in a web site that
featured a list of who's who, linked to a picture on a short page with a
summary of the person's claim to fame, plus links and bibliographies if
appropriate. It's been suggested that I look into a grant for the project,
but I don't know much about grants or how to set a budget for such a project.

If anyone has some experience there and would like to help me get
this project off the ground, please let me know offlist at

Seems to me that the completed project would be of value to
students and teachers, historians and geneologists. It could help put
Virginia's web offerings a cut above those of other states and it could
help students understand how ordinary people achieve greatness through what
they do in life. It could increase the number of "heroes" children have to
choose from.
