Job Description

Publication Research Associate

The Virginia Historical Society invites applications to fill the part-time, temporary position of publication research associate.  The primary duties will be in the production of the book/catalog Jamestown, Québec, Santa Fe: Three American Beginnings, a companion volume to the exhibition of the same name that will open in 2007 at the VHS. These duties will include checking the book manuscript for accuracy, drafting catalog entries and picture captions for the volume, and possibly helping procure illustrations for the book.  

Compensation for the position will be $15 per hour, for 15 hours per week.  The schedule of when those hours are worked is flexible.  The publication research associate will be expected to work from 1 October 2005 through 31 May 2006 at the VHS headquarters in Richmond.  This position is not benefits eligible.   

Candidates should have an undergraduate degree and a solid grounding in colonial/early American history.  Graduate work in history is a plus.
