	The Library Board meeting in Richmond on Monday, June 11, 2007,
unanimously appointed Sandra Gioia Treadway to be Librarian of Virginia
effective July 1 to succeed Librarian Nolan T. Yelich, who has been the
librarian since March 1995 and is retiring at the end of June.
	Treadway has been deputy librarian since January 1996. She has a
doctorate in American history from the University of Virginia and will
receive a master of library and information science from the University
of Tennessee in August 2007. Prior to becoming deputy librarian,
Treadway directed the publications program of the Library of Virginia.
She is a founding editor of the Dictionary of Virginia Biography, has
published widely in Virginia history and in Southern women's history,
and is a former president of the Southern Association of Women
Historians.
