Mr. Grizzle:
The Richmond Dispatch for Oct. 12, 1895, has an article on the Leftwich
execution. It starts

BRISTOL, TENN.,October 11. -- (Special.) -- "Kit" Leftwich, the negro who
committed a criminal assault on Annie Fogarty, a little Irish girl, on the
7th day of September, was hanged in Bristol, Va., to-day.

The Bristol Tenn./Va. Weekly News for October 15, 1895, carried an extensive
article on the crime, trial and execution and made reference to Washington
County jurors and the fact that the prisoner was held in Lynchburg until
just before the execution. Based on these stories, Id say he was executed
in Virginia.
