What part of the North are you referring to?

Yes, if the South had enlisted the slaves to fight for them, and if the
slaves had been willing to do so, there would have been a difference in the
outcome. Lee asked for the drafting of blacks, free and slave, but Davis
resisted, in some part because of his beliefs of the inferiority of the
race. When Davis finally consented to the formation of black confederate
troops, Appomattox was just days away.
