Dear Listers,

My ancestor was in the Civil War and fought with Grant. In one of his
letters sent home he asked his father's opinion of the "Vetsew"
question. He could reenlist for another 3 years and get a bounty of $402
and 30 days furlough to recruit more soldiers.

Can anyone tell me about "Vetsew" and/or the correct spelling?

Thanks for any help.

Diana Kercheval
