Dear VA-HIST:

         If anyone is interested in attending, I am enclosing information
on the FREE Civil War Seminar that Appomattox Court House National
Historical Park and Longwood University will be hosting this Saturday, 20
March 2004.

FIFTH ANNUAL CIVIL WAR SEMINAR
FAMOUS UNITS OF THE CIVIL WAR
MARCH 20, 2004

Appomattox Court House National Historical Park and the Department of
History and Political Science at Longwood University are pleased to present
the fifth annual Civil War Seminar, Saturday, March 20, 2004.  This year's
seminar will focus on "Famous Units of the Civil War.  The program begins
at 9:45 am on the campus of Longwood University in the Hull Building, room
132, in Farmville, VA.  The seminar is free and open to the public.  Lunch
is available at the Longwood University dining hall.  The following is a
list of speakers, topics, and tentative times:

9:15 a.m.  Doors open

9:45 a.m.  Introduction by Dr. David Coles, History Professor, Longwood
University
10:00 a.m.  Horace Mewborn"The 43rd Battalion Virginia Cavalry, Mosby's
Command."

11:00 a.m.  Brian C. Pohanka"The 5th New York Volunteer Infantry, Duryee's
Zouaves."

Noon to 1:30 p.m.  Lunch

1:30 p.m.  Dr. James "Bud" I. Robertson, Jr."The Stonewall Brigade."

2:30 p.m.  Lance Herdegen"The Iron Brigade."

3:30 to 4 p.m.  Questions and Answer Session
