Subject: Transubstantiation

> Mr. Kern is right - as the Frederick county shows, people were being asked
to deny a central Roman Catholic doctrine of transubstantiation as proof of
their protestantism.

How was it asked of people to deny this doctrine? Were interviews
conducted? Were hearings held? Were records kept? Who was the final
authority determining whether an appointee had passed this religious test? I
am asking about an appointment to the Court of Frederick County who was
Presbyterian and a fairly recent immigrant.

Paul
