Everyone,

The Alexandrian Society of the History Department at Virginia Commonwealth University is proud to announce a lecture, entitled, "The Caribbean in Atlantic and World History," by Dr. Franklin Knight, professor of history at John Hopkins University.

In his distinguished career, Dr. Knight has produced pathbreaking works on the Caribbean, Latin America, and slavery in the Americas. His major publications include Slave Society in Cuba during the Nineteenth Century, The African Dimension of Latin American Societies, and The Caribbean: The Genesis of a Fragmented Nationalism.

Dr. Franklin will speak at 5 p.m on Wednesday, October 26, at the Grace Street Theater, 934 West Grace Street.

The lecture is free and open to the public.

There is metered on-street parking or for-fee parking in the West Broad Street parking deck, adjacent to the Grace Street Theater.

Maps and directions can be found at the VCU Website (www.vcu.edu).
