The Prodigal Daughter Reclaiming an Unfinished Childhood by Margaret Gibson

Margaret Gibson, who grew up in Richmond, is the author of nine books of 
poetry. She will speak about and sign The Prodigal Daughter, her memoir of an 
inquisitive and sensitive young woman's coming of age and a deeply moving 
recounting of her reconciliation later in life with the family she left behind. The 
Prodigal Daughter, Gibson’s first book of prose, evokes the 1950s and 1960s in 
a time of shifting values and monumental social changes in Richmond, Virginia.

Margaret Gibson is the author of nine books of poetry, most recently Icon and 
Evidence, Autumn Grasses, and One Body. She is Professor Emeritus of English 
at the University of Connecticut and lives in Preston, Connecticut.

The Library of Virginia is located at 800 East Broad Street in downtown 
Richmond.  Free parking is available underneath the building.
