Wilton House Museum

Vacancy: Education Coordinator

Salary: $12.00- $14.00 hourly
Type: Part-time/20 hours flex time weekly- experienced

Description:
Wilton House Museum , Richmond, VA, seeks an energetic, creative and articulate individual to develop, promote and direct all aspects of the Museum's education and outreach programs.

The Education Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating, evaluating, and reporting on all museum education and outreach programs in support of the museum's mission statement. The Education Coordinator will collaborate with the Museum Director to develop and manage on-site classes and workshops for children and adults, an annual lecture series, school and adult group tours, youth summer camps, and community outreach initiatives. He/She will arrange and implement all publicity for adult, school and youth programs.

In addition, the Education Coordinator will assist in creating interpretive programs and materials for the museum's temporary exhibitions and appropriate special events and functions. He/She will also be responsible for recruiting, training and scheduling  docents.

Requirements:

Master's degree in education, history, art history, or museum studies preferred, but Bachelor's degree with classroom teaching experience and/or teaching certification considered.  Demonstrated skills in writing and editing interpretive materials and/or lesson plans about American and Virginia history for diverse audiences. Administrative experience in staff and volunteer supervision helpful. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, ability to work with wide range of individuals, creativity and adaptability required.
