RELIC AFTER DARK - A Very Special Event

The Ruth E. Lloyd Information Center (RELIC) will host the second annual
RELIC After Dark, Saturday, April 1, 2006, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Bull Run
Run Regional Library in Manassas. RELIC is Prince William County's
special collection for genealogy and local history. Price of admission,
$25, includes a buffet of hearty hors d'oeuvres, assorted beverages and
desserts. Also on the menu: a welcome by Library Director Dick Murphy
and a talk by Thomas W. Jones, Ph.D., C.G., C.G.L., on 'The Seven Habits
of Highly Effective Genealogists.'

Dr. Jones is currently co-editor of the National Genealogical Society
Quarterly and is a trustee of the Board of Certification for
Genealogists. He is a genealogical educator who speaks and writes
frequently on genealogical evidence, proof and problem solving.

Free printing will be offered from library resources. Door prizes will
be drawn. We suggest dressy casual wear. This is an opportunity to
become familiar with and use the library's research facilities after
normal hours. Those resources include books, serials, microfilm,
electronic databases and internet services, with the assistance of
library staff. To register for this event, please contact RELIC at
703-792-4540, (TTY) 703-792-4524, or [log in to unmask]
<mailto:[log in to unmask]> . Proceeds will support collection
development and preservation.

TIME TO ORDER MICROFILM

FOR USE DURING RELIC AFTER DARK

Participants at RELIC After Dark, April 1, will be allowed free printing
from the internet, library electronic databases and microfilm between 7
and 11 p.m. If you are thinking about ordering microfilm from the
Library of Virginia or the LDS Family History Library (FHL, Salt Lake
City), now is the time to do it to assure that your film arrives in time
for RELIC-AD. It generally takes 2 to 3 weeks for films to come from
Salt Lake City. FHL microfilm is now $6 for a 30 day loan.

SUPER DOOR PRIZE TO BE AWARDED

Ray Olszewski of Gainesville, Virginia, has offered an especially rare
and valuable item to be given as a door prize to one lucky guest at
RELIC After Dark.

particular item was from Robert Olszewski's Renaissance Collection. The
lid contains a sculptured horse and sleigh (with passengers) in a snowy
landscape. "Lift the top off and the gift box offers a place to
carefully store your petite and most special jewelry items whether they
worn by the Ladies or the Gentlemen."

Retail issue price was $395.00 in 1997 and is made from precious metals
to include 24 kt. gold pieces. For more information about the piece

and his wife Betty owned and operated Country Cousin, Inc. retail stores
in Lake Ridge and Manassas starting out at Lake Jackson. Today, Ray is
an advocate for the Virginia Wine Industry, writes about its wine and
its people, and is currently on a research project identifying the
several wineries that existed in Prince William County. He is an
