I'm doing some research on Edward Coles's 1819 emancipation of his
slaves. Does anyone know if there has been any new research on the
journey made by Coles and the slaves from Albemarle County through
Brownsville (PA), to Illinois? I have his letter describing the
journey, as published in a 1960 Ralph Ketcham article in VQR. Perhaps
that's all there is, but I'm wondering if there is any additional
information. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
