GRIVA German SIG

Tuesday, 2 November, 7 pmVirtual (Zoom) Meeting

Register: https://tinyurl.com/GRIVAGermanNov2021

You will receive a confirmation email with information about joining the meeting. As always, space is limited, but guests are always welcome! There is no handout for this meeting, nor is it being recorded.  Links referenced can be found in the Zoom chat box and/or <GRIVA.org> German SIG Tab.
Our tour this month takes us to Rheinland-Pfalz. All research is local! Just as in each of the United States, research in each German state is both general and specific. This fall we will explore the history, geography, and research opportunities for each of the modern German states and city-states.
Searching for German-speaking ancestors? Changing borders, missing records, reading German script, and then there is the language barrier. Do any of these problems sound familiar? Check <GRIVA.org>, German SIG tab, to see the SIG’s agenda and for links mentioned in past sessions.

Sylvia Elchinger, the Monument Avenue Family History Center’s resident German expert, leads discussions focusing on Europe’s German-speaking countries, and areas included in the one-time German Empire.
