Speaking of John Adams, I suppose that many of us saw the recent HBO
series on him. Do you recall the final death scenes of Thomas Jefferson
in which they "just had to project" the Sally Hemings issue into the
final death bed scene. A person identified as Sally Hemings was shown
and identified. She was there at the time but so was his daughters and
other close relatives, his doctor, etc. Why was Sally singled out to
"magnify"?

Re: John Adams and "Victorian" sexual attitudes, I recall that he
counseled a far younger man that the best thing about marriage was "the
copulation." Doesn't sound very Victorian to me!
