Please join the Museum of the Confederacy and the Virginia War Memorial for a special Sesquicentennial lecture on the 150th anniversary of Robert E. Lee taking command of the Army of Northern Virginia. This change in leadership came at a crucial time during the Civil War, as the Union Army of the Potomac was threatening Richmond's doorstep. Dr. Emory Thomas, Regents Professor of History Emeritus at the University of Georgia, is the speaker for the event being held Thursday, May 31, at 7:00pm. The lecture will take place in the Virginia War Memorial's fantastic Galanti Education Center and Dr. Thomas will be signing books afterwards. There will be no charge for admission, but reservations are required. Please contact Kelly Hancock, Manager of Education & Programs at the Museum of the Confederacy at 855-649-1861 x121 or [log in to unmask] to reserve your spot.
