If you have never been to Petersburg, here is your opportunity to experience an exclusive sneak peek that the public never does!
These private homes are open for a one time only fundraiser for historic Battersea in Petersburg.
The residences have been lovingly restored, and are decorated with tasteful reminders of times past.
One of the most historic homes is that of Benjamin Watkins Leigh, a political and legal luminary of his era.
The temple form home is very similar on the exterior to the earlier c. 1790 home of his mentor, Chief Justice John Marshall, that still stands at 9th and Marshall Streets behind the Library of Virginia in Richmond.
The event is Sunday, December 11 from noon to four pm.
Tickets (all proceeds go to preserve historic Battersea) are $20 each and may be purchased online through the Battersea website, www.BatterseaFound.org.
This is a walking tour, so guests are asked to dress comfortably.
Parking is on street, or in nearby lots in Old Towne Petersburg.
