ACCESS MORE GENEALOGY AND HISTORY RESOURCES
THROUGH RELIC

Last month, we described important genealogy and history databases that are directly available to you through our Digital Library, https://www.pwcgov.org/government/dept/library/Pages/digitallibrary.aspx/. We are pleased to report that home access to Ancestry Library Edition has been extended until May 31.

Although the following online databases are not freely available from home, RELIC staff have access to them. If you need research from any of them, please contact us for assistance:
. Binns Genealogy - Early Virginia tax lists from 1782 to about 1810.
. Fold3 - American military records.
. Newspapers.com (Publisher Extra edition).
. New England Historic Genealogical Society (American Ancestors).

RELIC continues as an affiliate of the Family History Library, Salt Lake City (FamilySearch.org). If you are unable to access documents from FamilySearch, please contact RELIC for help. We may be able to download particular documents and forward them to you.

A variety of special databases can be accessed at the Library of Virginia https://www.lva.virginia.gov/public/using_collections.asp To register, you must have a valid Virginia driver's license. Once you have registered and have been verified as a Virginia resident, you may access the special databases. Among the special databases are:
. ProQuest History Vault (Southern plantation records, African American slavery sources)
. Oxford English Dictionary (historical definitions and usage)
. FIMO (Fire Insurance Maps Online - for Virginia, in color)
. ProQuest Sanborn Maps Geo Edition (for Virginia)
. American Civil War Database
