Congratulations, on the publicity of your fine research, Mr. Valos:
I well remember my introduction to Mary Louveste, thanks to my colleague Dr. Tommy Bogger of NSU, and Mr. Dean Burgess, director of the Portsmouth Public Library, during research for my 1995 study Black Confederates and Afro-Yankees in Civil War Virginia (University Press of Virginia), pp. 284-285, 383n59.
Louveste is worthy of commemoration/memorialization, conference presentation, and perhaps a book-length study. And I say this not just because I'm a Norfolk native!
All good wishes,

Subject: New Research into Mary Louveste, Virginian and Unionist Spy
Hello everyone,
I wanted to alert you all to some fascinating research on one of the Civil War's mysterious African American women. New research has been found on Mary Louveste. Records have been found that paint a more complex picture and humanize this woman compared to a fictional persona created of her years ago and has been passed down through the years.
