It is my pleasure to announce that Brent Tarter, historian and editor of
the Library of Virginia's *Dictionary of Virginia Biography*, received an
honorary Doctor of Humanities from Shenandoah University. The ceremony took
place in Winchester on Sunday, May 23, and recognizes Brent's singular
contribution to understanding Virginia history.
