2011 Virginia Archives Month Extravaganza!

· Date: Friday, October 28th

· Time: 11:00 am to 2:00 pm

· Where: VCU, James Branch Cabell Library, 1st Floor

The Virginia Caucus of MARAC cordially invites you to celebrate Archives

Month by participating as an exhibitor in the Virginia Archives Month

Fair.

Organized by the Virginia Caucus of MARAC and Virginia Commonwealth

University, it is an occasion to showcase your institution’s archival

collections and public research services. The Fair will be held Friday

October 28th, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Cabell Library on the VCU Monroe

Park campus. Attendance will be drawn from VCU students as well as the

archives, history, and scholarly communities in the area, and the general

public. Our theme this year is "I Found It in the Archives: Celebrating

Advocacy in Archives.”

We ask that you display literature, conduct demonstrations, and/or other

exhibit activities highlighting your collections. We cannot allow the sale

of books or products; however, other materials such as finding aids may be

distributed. If your archival institution is not able to attend we welcome

literature for distribution, but would prefer active participation.

To sign up as an exhibitor or learn more about participating in the

Archives Month Fair 2011, please contact Margaret T. Kidd at [log in to unmask]

, or Virginia Caucus Rep Paige Newman at [log in to unmask] Please

share this posting with others who might be interested in participating.

Please let us know if you plan to participate in this event by September

23th. We will have tables available for each exhibitor (6 feet). In

addition please let us know of any needs such as power, internet access,

etc.

Also we invite everyone to join us for a book talk sponsored by VCU

Libraries. Author Brian Burns will be speaking about his new book Lewis

Ginter: Richmond’s Gilded Age Icon. This event will begin at 2:15 pm in

the Cabell Library Multipurpose Room (Room 250). See this link for more
