Any volunteers? It would be wonderful to have a plat map of Stafford.

According to Peggy Shomo Joyner's /Abstracts of Northern Neck Warrants
and Surveys Dunmore . . . and Stafford Counties, 1710-1780 /(Portsmouth,
Va.: the compiler, 1986), John England had a 7 Mar 1727/8 survey for 333
acres on reedy Branch of Potomac adjacent Bryant Young near a Rocky
Cave, James Withers and James Harvy. England had a second survey for 430
acres on the south branches of Accokeek adjacent land Mr Augustine
Washington bought from Michael Dermot, Thomas Norman, Jeremiah Greenham
(bought of William, James Harvey. The surveys are available and perhaps
by putting some of them together, you might be able to determine which
creek was then Reedy Branch. Unhappily, Peggy did not index geographic
features. You might also want to check the abstracts of John Mercer's
land book in the /Magazine of Virginia Genealogy/ since he owned land in
Stafford and many of the deeds included plats. The abstracts ran for
about five years in volumes 34-39. Geographic names are indexed in MVG.

The USGS doesn't help, nor does VGNIS. There are several candidates just to complicate the issue. In theory the area is west of I-95 due to the absence of larger creeks coming off Potomac Creek. Stafford isn't in the DeedMapper Data Pool unfortunately.
