“Mining the Treasure House” Lecture – Trenton Hizer on the new _Guide to the
Personal Papers Collection at the Library of Virginia_.
Trenton Hizer is the Senior Finding Aids Archivist at the Library of Virginia. He
will discuss the newly published Guide to the Personal Papers Collections at
the Library of Virginia. The Guide serves as an introduction to more than 5,700
diverse collections that cover more 400 years of Virginia history. Hizer will
discuss the compilation of the volume and several of the many collections
described in it, ranging from Thomas Yong's 1634 letters describing Virginia to
blogs commenting on and analyzing the 2005 Virginia elections.

Book Talk: _Beach to Bluegrass: Places to Brake on Virginia’s Longest Road_

Author Joe Tennis will share tales from his book which takes readers on a
journey along Virginia’s U.S. Route 58, beginning near Hampton Roads and
ending at the Kentucky border. A mixture of history and legend, _Beach to
Bluegrass_ features sections on Hampton Roads, the Piedmont region, the Blue
Ridge Highlands and Southwest Virginia. A book signing will follow the talk.
The Library of Virginia is located at 800 East Broad Street in downtown
Richmond. Free parking is available underneath the building.
