ANNOUNCEMENT

Virginia Foundation for the Humanities Residential Fellowships for 2014-2015

The application deadline for 2014-15 is Dec. 1, 2013. Applications are accepted online.

The Virginia Foundation for the Humanities in Charlottesville, Va., offers residential fellowships to scholars and writers in the humanities. We welcome proposals on subjects of public interest in any area of the humanities and currently encourage proposals on history, literature, culture, and folklife of the South Atlantic region. We invite proposals on subjects that complement VFH programs on African American, Virginia Indian, and other cultures and communities. Our residential fellows' projects are intellectually rigorous, imaginative, and accessible.

All Fellows have University of Virginia faculty privileges while in residence. As visiting faculty, Fellows have access to all UVA research and recreational facilities, lectures and events, on-site library delivery, and faculty housing. UVa library books are delivered directly to the VFH. Although housing is not provided, there are many reasonably priced options available in and around Charlottesville.

We offer stipends up to $15,000 per semester; summer Fellows receive travel or housing funds only. Residencies may be for a semester, an

academic year, or a summer term. Applicants need not have advanced degrees, but we do not support work toward a degree, nor do we

typically support dissertation revisions. Former VFH Fellows must wait three years before applying for another fellowship.

The application deadline for 2014-15 is Dec. 1, 2013. Applications are accepted online.
