I wonder if Paul Gaston, retired UVA Professor of History was there? I may be off in my chronology, but he would know others who were there. He lives in Cville. Regards, Diane Ehrenpreis

Subject: [VA-HIST] Ralph Bunche 1951 speech at UVA
A visiting historian is looking for people who attended Ralph Bunche's
1951 speech at UVA. Bunche was invited by Robert Kennedy, who was at
the law school, and the event caused a problem because the university
was still segregated; but the event went forward when President
Colgate Darden gave his assent. If anyone has any leads I will be very
grateful.
