If you were looking for pre or post 1715 information about
Hi to all
If you were looking for pre or post 1715 information about a white female
indentured servant (Margaret Shaw, indentured to John Hardyman) or her child/ren
whose only record I have found so far are a couple of court records that
indicate she was punished for having a mulatto bastard in 1715 in Prince George
County, VA in the Westopher Parish - where would you look? I am trying to find
out what happened to her and her child. I have been looking into John Hardyman's
wills, deeds, court records, etc.
I know Prince George county was founded in 1702, I think Westopher Parish was
located in the part of Prince George county that was Charles City prior to that?
Anyone have suggestions other than court/deed/will records of that period (I am
requesting ILL from LVA). Are there any vestry books for Westopher Parish or any
other records?
I don't have a lot of experience in searching pre-colonial records, and most
of my genealogical research experience has been around slaves and free people of
color but I have been looking at published references in Prince George county
and Charles City.
I found a Margaret Shaw in Surry County in the 1698 in the household of Anthony
Cornish, not sure if there is a connection - still working on that. Thanks for
any light anyone can shed on this.
Ruth
