As part of the Library of Virginia’s commemoration of the centennial of
woman suffrage, at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, 12 March, Mari Julienne, Barbara
Batson, and Brent Tarter will lead a panel discussion on their new book, *The
Campaign for Woman Suffrage in Virginia*, and the companion exhibition, *We
Demand: Women’s Suffrage in Virginia*.
The exhibition can be viewed in the main gallery on the ground floor of the
Library of Virginia from 9:00 to 5:00 Monday through Saturday through 5
December 2020.
The book and the exhibition present surprising discoveries about the
suffrage movement in Virginia, which have required them to write a whole
book on the subject to change the narrative from one of frustration and
defeat to near-victory and success.
For people who have not recently visited the library, it is located at 800
East Broad Street in downtown Richmond. There is free, secure, underground
parking accessible from Eighth and Ninth Streets.
