You might also want to check Lorena Walsh's Motives of Honor, Pleasure, and
Profit <http://uncpress.unc.edu/browse/book_detail?title_id=1705>; I seem
to remember that she includes some of that data--and references to where
that data may be found--in her discussion of the economics of tobacco
cultivation.
