I have seen one Richmond, VA newspaper in 1863 ad for " Billups & Leonhard" who were cabinetmakers and also did undertaking. They were also listed as a Confederate Citizens Business. The partners names would be George A. Leonhard, a German immigrant and either Lafayette W. Billups (or) William A. Billups . Both were in their 40s when hired by the government and shown as part of the 4th reserves in 1863 and 1864 but wonder..
1) which Billips is this - considering the ad placement and the years they served and...
2) did Billups actually serve on the battlefield with a Confederate Citizens business or how / what capacity could they have served?
Thanks!
Eric
