Join author Henry Wiencek on October 23 at noon at the Library of Virginia for a book talk and signing on Master of the Mountain: Thomas Jefferson and His Slaves. Is there anything new to say about Thomas Jefferson and slavery? Wiencek's answer is a resounding "yes." Based on new information coming from archaeological work at Monticello and on evidence in Jefferson's papers, Master of the Mountain focuses not only on Jefferson's statements on slavery but also the reality of Jefferson's everyday dealings with slaves at Monticello.
The Library of Virginia is located at 800 East Broad Street in historic downtown Richmond. There is free parking for this talk in the Library's underground deck, which is accessible from either Eighth or Ninth streets.
