On March 11, 1781, responding to an invitation from Nathanael Greene and
recruiting efforts by Patrick Henry, 281 militiamen from Henry County
commanded by Major George Waller marched south to confront Cornwallis at
the battle of Guilford Courthouse on March 15th.
Approximately 2,000 volunteers from adjacent counties did as well.
Presumably these volunteers did not follow Greene into South Carolina that
spring. Does anyone know where these volunteers went? what they did in the
weeks after that battle?
Thank you
Jon Kukla
