Because Richard Loving was white and his wife, Mildred, was not, their
marriage resulted in an exile from their home and families in Virginia.
Today's blog entry explores the criminal case against the Lovings that
began in Caroline Co. in 1958 and ended in 1967 with a landmark civil
rights decision by the U.S. Supreme Court that ended all race-based
legal restrictions on marriage.
