On the surface it looked like a boring business ledger but looks can be
deceiving. This volume from the Lynchburg courthouse contained doodles,
autographs, a partial roster, orders, and a brief account of the fall of
Richmond by members of a Pennsylvania infantry unit. They were stationed at
the courthouse soon after Lee’s surrender. Forgotten for nearly 150 years,
this historical graffiti comes to light again on your screen in the Out of the Box
blog!
