"Does anyone on this message board know what or who the Virginia Craftsmen
were/are? Where would I go to seek more info. on it/them? Thanks."
I don't know the context of your reference to Virginia Craftsmen, but
"Virginia Craftsmen" was the trademark of a company in Harrisonburg, VA (ca.
1925-1985) that produced fine handmade reproductions of colonial Virginia
furniture, made by highly skilled carvers and turners using traditional
methods. The showroom was an historic brick house on South Main Street called
The Craft House. Virginia Craftsmen also made special-order pieces such as
the long table in the Board of Visitors meeting room in the Rotunda at UVA
and reproductions for The Homestead. Their trademark, burned into the back or
drawer of their pieces, is a large V with the words Virginia Craftsmen or
Virginia Craftsmen Reproductions.
