After stealing a mule, Will Liddle entered the Virginia Penitentiary for
the second time in September 1907. Liddle's good behavior quickly earned
him "trusty" status, and in the spring of 1908, his trusted status
earned him a chance to escape to freedom when he was assigned to assist
some carpenters working on the outside of the penitentiary. Read about
Liddle's daring escape that lasted for a mere 20 minutes in today's Mug
Shot Monday.
